Forever Young

I was searching for some inspiration for a new artwork in my room, and after watching one of my all time favourite movies, Lords of Dogtown, i thought i would venture into the 1970-80's of Venice beach era, and came across some sick photographs..
This era (especially Venice Beach) is labled as bringing surf style to skateboarding..with leading forces such as Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta and my personal favourite Jay Adams...heres a little collab of what i found.

Girl Crush - Cara Delevingne

One of my biggest fashion inspirations, or excuses, is the one and only Cara Delevingne. Not only do I think she is one of the most effortlessly cool people I have ever seen, she encourages being weird and wacky, which is right down my alley.

Clearly, she has the most talked about brows in the history of eye brows, and embraces the inner child that we all want to share. Her silly nature outshines her beauty, and implores us to wear the weird things that other people would be judged on, onezies and all. So I have made a Cara inspired montage, just to reflect upon her amazingness.

16 Day Snaps # 14 - Flower Power

It was a nice surprise last night when mum came home from work with some beautiful flowers. She had bought a bunch of purple sweet peas. Although I'm not a fan of the smell I think these, and any other flowers, always brighten up a room.

16 Day Snaps # 13 - The Poser

Whilst taking my dog, Lulu, out for a walk, I thought I would try and explore. As soon as I found an adorable ladybug, and was literally taking a happy snap, Lulu took it upon herself to be the main subject of this photo, which resulted in a number of other funny snaps of my silly pup... This was my favourite though..describes her cheeky nature.

16 Day Snap # 12 - Sweet Treats

After many months of begging my mum finally agreed to take me on a trip to Paris and London in June 2011. I had never been to either of the places and I was desperate to go. I am glad my constant nagging eventually paid off as we both had a the best time and i fell in love with both places.
Today I was looking back at the photos I took and couldn't help but notice the many, many photos of food in Paris, particularly the desserts.

As admitting to having a problem is the first step in overcoming addiction, I have decided to cull down the thousands of photos of pastries, gelato and macarons and share with you only the finest.

Heaven on earth!

Although it is almost impossible to choose, my favourite dessert was the chocolate and raspberry mousse cake with the beautiful, edible red rose (top picture). It was almost to gorgeous to eat!

Writing this post has made me so hungry! Time to go and get some cake

Whats your favourite thing in Paris? Let us know in the comments below!

16 Day Snap # 11 - Vivid Nights

Last Friday night my family and I ventured into the chilly city in order to witness the annual Sydney Vivid Light Festival and it was worth it...

Iconic buildings around Circular Quay and Darling Harbour are illuminated with sunning laser displays and interactive light installations scatter the walkway.

There are lots of street performances taking place and it was really nice to walk around the city and appreciate how stunning the harbour is.

The unique interactive installations were great for all ages and I had a fantastic night.

Although Vivid has sadly finished for this year, keep an eye out for it next year around May. The event is free and is a great way to spend an evening in Sydney.

16 Day Snap # 10 - Twinning

I had to take a quick snap of my brother and his best friends, who all unintentionally wore very similar clothing....

I think these boys have been hanging around each other too much...

16 Day Snaps # 9 - Fashion Slopes?

Last, but not least, my mums vintage Vogue Skis. I think these are one of the sickest thing I have ever found in my garage!

I just couldnt let these sit in the dark gathering dust... Being a massive skiing family, and lover of skiing myself, I really appricate these old school skis, and love seeing old pictures of mum rocking these on the slopes. Being simple and timeless I just love them, so much so that that I even hung them in my room! Strike a pose?

16 Day Snaps # 8 - Photography

I always wished I would be able to take amazing photographs, that look so effortless and professional... but I don't think I will able to achieve this just yet... practice makes perfect maybe?
After my mum found my grandfathers old camera (great grandfather possibly..?), loved it so much that I had to have it in my room. I just find it so aesthetically pleasing above my bed in one of my "cubes"... as a simple yet sophisticated bedhead.

My mum bought me this photography book when I was younger, as I loved just looking at books with pictures... its an inspiring book with incredible photography.

16 Day Snaps # 7 - Let the Good Times Roll

Whilst clearing out my garage the other day, I stumbled across this beauty of an item! This was my mum and dad's old record player from when they first started living together back in 1980, and its by far the coolest thing I have in my room! I love how old school it is, and even found a stack of records with it, my favourites being Bob Marley, The Beatles, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.

I love being able to sit on my couch in my pj's, reading a book, listening to music on this beaut, and just maxing out. Paradise.

16 Day Snaps # 6 - Candle Obsession?

Both Emily and myself have an obessesion with candles, meaning everytime we head to the Markets, we both leave with a new candle! If you ever see two strange girls being odd, sniffing candles with serious looks on their faces - it will most probably be us...

The Rose Quartz Candle was a gift from my mum when I turned 13, which I love.
The Tigerlily Candle - a birthday gift my best friend (she knows me way to well) - smells amazing!
Sandlewood and Vanilla Candle - recently bought at Glebe Markets - Emily bought "Exotic Wood"- she's odd...
I have many, many other candles - including French Pear, Dusk, Sea Breeze, Coconut and Lime..the list goes on... but they are scattered all around my room, and seeing as these are my favourites, I thought I would focus on them.

16 Day Snaps # 5 - Roomy Blog

For the following posts , I (Courtney) have decided to photograph a couple of my favourite objects, or "aspects" of my room, that over the years I have bought, been handed down, given as a present and created.

Being creative myself, I am constantly changing my room, and finding things that I can add to enhance it. I'm very fortunate to be able to have parents who respect my form of expression through my room, and allow me to put nails into walls etc. (very hard for my dad to come to terms with this destruction.)

I purchased this ottoman (and tray and glasses) from a Moroccan store located in Bondi Beach called 'Silk Route' earlier this year. This store is amazing. It sells a large range of furniture and cute items such as shoes, glasses and others. I found that the silver colour suited my room colour scheme, however there are a range of colours to choose from! I purchased the tray on top for $40, the glasses for a set of 6 were $36. However, I have recently noticed that the store has relocated permanently to online shopping only! So make sure you check it out.
The skull shot glasses were a Christmas present from my best friend, and I absolultey love them! I have a strange fixation with skulls, as you will most probably see in future posts, and I think these shots are the sickest things I have ever seen! BUT I do not only use them for alcoholic beverage reasons, but they are brilliant for Health Shots as well!
The pink skull candle (told you I have a obsession) was a recent purchase from the Surry Hills Markets - and only cost $15!! Not only does it smell amazing, but its so adorable! They also come in 2 bigger sizes. This brand was BluBirdSoy - however I have seen very similar products from brands such as Insight that sell similar skull candles.

16 Day Snap # 4 - Local Markets

So we are back up and running after changing our blog layout, with help from the siiick WonderForest blog designer.. As we have missed out on several 30 Day Snaps, I thought we would have a huge upload of posts to keep you up to date of all the Snaps we have missed. Here goes...

This weekend Emily and I decided to visit Paddington, Surry Hills and Glebe Markets. These markets are brilliant for golden vintage clothes and items. Not only is it a blast visiting each market base, but the people are always carefree and loving life. As the Surry Hills Markets are only on every first weekend of each month, we thought we would spend the day visiting each one, and left with some brilliant purchases! (The majority of these were candles because we both have an odd obsession with them)

I think the thing I most appricate about these markets are the quirky things you can buy, that you wouldnt see anywhere else. One of my favourite stores was this Fairy Lights store, with the cutest lights (as some of these markets are held at public schools, they use the school halls to display there stock).
